About

We are a group of local runners who wanted to share Jersey’s most incredible terrain. We built The Intertidal to give others the chance to experience the island’s raw coastal beauty in the way we love best.

Our Mission

We are more than just organisers; we are runners, explorers, and stewards of Jersey's unique coastal environment. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe, challenging, and unforgettable experience that connects participants with the raw power of the ocean and the beauty of our island's intertidal zones.

The Team

Mick Siouville

Mick Siouville

Mick started his love of running whilst still at primary school, taking on a local 13-mile charity walk….by running, not walking it! In later years after spells playing in local football teams, the love of running returned and now in his mid-40’s took on and completed the Jersey Marathon. The love of trail running swiftly followed, competing in local events and venturing further afield, the distances grew longer, culminating in a 135km ultra in Wales. Very much now a Masters athlete, Mick still loves to compete in races of various distances, both on the road and trails. Along with volunteering at local events and social run groups, Mick absolutely loves being part of the vibrant and friendly Jersey running scene. “For its size, Jersey punches above its weight for the quality and number of stunningly beautiful trails, whether that is on the rugged North Coast, or the scenic vistas of golden sandy beaches along the south and west of the island.” Says Mick. He continues... “So, we wanted to create something totally unique and with the launch of The Intertidal, we really hope we have achieved that. Running over sandy gulleys, rocks and reefs some 2 miles from the coast, is not something that you can do anywhere. And with the battle against the clock to complete the course before the tide comes in, it really adds to the excitement and jeopardy of this challenge.”

Ronnie Isherwood

Ronnie Isherwood

Ronnie began running as part of a “fit at forty” challenge. Having completed the Round Island Walk (approximately 70km) on multiple occasions, it felt inevitable that he would return to the same route at speed, tackling it through the local ultramarathon. From there, he worked backwards—moving from ultra distances to marathon, half marathon, and eventually discovering the consistency and community of parkrun. Today, Ronnie runs locally with Rock n Road Runners, regularly running and supporting Trail Monkey events. When travelling, his focus shifts to mountain and alpine races. In 2026, he has already Run "The Intertidal" route on his 50th birthday and his upcoming calendar includes the Jersey Hospice to Hospice Half, Loudéac-Pontivy semi-marathon, UTMB Verbier X‑Traversée Ultra, UTMB OCC Ultra and the Nice Marathon.

Sam Wilkes

Sam Wilkes

Sam went to uni and got fat. So he started running and the rest, as they say, is somewhat middling history. What started as a journey to become fitter has resulted in over 150 parkruns, 10 marathons, and multiple ultras – he’s even finished some of them! Now he is on a quest for new and weirder events, between Swiss mountains and beer miles, swim runs and triathlons, to The Intertidal. With fellow trail enthusiasts Mick and Ronnie, the crazy idea is to bring something truly different to not Jersey, but arguably the world of running. “There is really nothing like it out there. It’s an area of the world which is underwater for 12 hours a day and we have such a small window to get out, see this landscape and landmarks, then get back to shore.” Sam is originally from Southampton, a UK Athletics qualified coach, chartered market and sustainability advocate, so arguably perfect to show off Jersey at its finest. He’s seen the postcard version, but also murky, tidal, salty, shoe-soaking version. The Intertidal is a race that brings together all of these for a run like no other.
